Jeollanam-do Focuses Efforts on Attracting Domestic and International Tourists

Jeonnam's Charm Shines This Year... Abundance of Mega Events Starting with this year's National Sports for All Festival, various mega event festivals and activities will be held in the Jeonnam region. Provided by Jeonnam Province

Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it will host a variety of mega events this year, including the Myeongnyang Victory Festival and the Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo.

First, the "2025 National Sports for All Festival," the largest sports-for-all event in the country, will be held in Jeollanam-do from April 24 to 27. This festival, which will feature more than 20,000 sports enthusiasts from across the nation, is expected to serve as both a nationwide sports celebration and the opening act to showcase the diverse charms of Jeollanam-do to domestic and international audiences.

The province plans to concentrate local cultural events before and after the festival, offering visitors from all over the country additional enjoyment beyond the competitions. Various programs, such as guerrilla concerts at stadiums and performances and events involving both residents and athletes, will be organized to create a festival that everyone can enjoy together.

The "2025 Myeongnyang Victory Festival" is a patriotic historical and cultural event commemorating Admiral Yi Sun-sin and the Joseon naval forces, along with Jeolla fishermen, defeating the Japanese navy at Uldolmok during the Battle of Myeongnyang. This year, it will be held for three days from September 19 to 21 in the Uldolmok area. The historic moment of the 1597 Battle of Myeongnyang, where 13 ships defeated 133 enemy vessels, will be brought back to life as a cutting-edge, technology-infused naval battle reenactment.

By presenting a digital immersive naval battle, differentiated from traditional performances with LED shows and drones, the festival aims to maximize the sense of immersion. Highlights will include a naval parade by the Navy, the successors of the Joseon fleet, an Air Force air show, and various other programs and nighttime illuminations to attract tourists' attention.

Jeollanam-do, which ranks first in eco-friendly agricultural certification area and the number of master food artisans, is leading the global K-food trend with its competitive Namdo cuisine. To promote the globalization of Namdo gastronomy, the "2025 Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo" will be held in Mokpo, the culinary capital, from October 1 to 26.

This year's mega events, featuring festivals and sports events that highlight Jeollanam-do's rich natural environment, historical culture, and cuisine, are expected to attract numerous domestic and international tourists with their endless appeal. In particular, they are anticipated to provide special experiences for visitors and make significant contributions to revitalizing the local economy and tourism industry.
