Expanded Eligibility for Infrastructure Improvements... Increased Funding for Fire Safety Facilities
622 Projects Selected in 31 Cities and Counties This Year... 14 Billion KRW in Provincial and Local Government Support Confirmed
Gyeonggi Province supports infrastructure and work environment improvements such as paving roads around companies, constructing dormitories, and installing fire safety equipment to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) focus on their business activities.
On the 28th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has finalized 622 support targets this year for the ‘2025 Corporate Environment Improvement Project’ based on these plans.
The province will implement corporate environment improvement projects in five areas for SMEs within the province: △infrastructure improvement △labor environment improvement △knowledge industry center improvement △work environment improvement △fire safety facility improvement.
By category, the ‘infrastructure improvement’ area involves projects to maintain business-related infrastructure such as road expansion and paving, and water and sewage systems in areas densely populated with SMEs. Support is provided up to 700 million KRW, with 19 projects underway. This year, the eligibility criteria were relaxed from requiring participation of at least five companies to at least three companies.
The ‘labor environment improvement’ area targets small manufacturing SMEs with fewer than 200 employees and sales under 30 billion KRW, supporting the installation and repair of dormitories, cafeterias, restrooms, and rest areas. This year, 79 projects were selected for support, with a support limit of 40 million KRW.
The ‘knowledge industry center improvement’ area supports repair and renovation of restrooms and aging facilities in knowledge industry centers that have been completed for more than seven years, with a support limit of 60 million KRW. Five projects were selected this year.
The ‘work environment improvement’ area supports micro-manufacturing enterprises with fewer than 50 employees by providing up to 20 million KRW for renovation costs of floors, ceilings, walls, workbenches, ventilation, and dust collection systems. A total of 486 projects will be supported.
The ‘fire safety facility improvement’ area supports 33 projects for SMEs in manufacturing with fewer than 200 employees and sales under 30 billion KRW, or knowledge industry centers completed more than seven years ago, including fire alarm systems, wireless fire detectors, and replacement of aging electrical wiring. This year, the support limit was raised from 60 million KRW to 70 million KRW.
Since August last year, the province has conducted demand surveys in cities and counties, followed by on-site inspections and project selection reviews. Including an additional demand survey conducted in January, a total of 14.3 billion KRW will be provided as provincial and local government funds to 31 cities and counties. This amount is 300 million KRW higher than last year.
