A Japanese manga artist who accurately predicted the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake is once again in the spotlight for a prophecy stating that a large-scale disaster will occur in Japan on July 5 of this year.

Recently, the Japanese media outlet Nikkan Gendai reported that Tatsuki Ryo's prophetic manga "The Future I Saw" complete edition, which was published in October 2021 and has sold over 800,000 copies, is gaining attention again on social networking services (SNS). The reason for the renewed focus more than two years after its release is because the book states, "A great catastrophe will come on July 5, 2025."

Born in 1954, Tatsuki first published "The Future I Saw," a work recording scenes he saw in dreams since 1994, in 1999. The book gained popularity after it was known to have accurately predicted the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. The book contains a dream description stating, "A great disaster will come in March 2011." In the same book, Tatsuki also mentioned "a new virus will appear, peak in April 2020, disappear, and then return ten years later." This has been interpreted as a prediction of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After disappearing for a while, Tatsuki released the complete edition of "The Future I Saw" in 2021. In this book, he claimed to have had a prophetic dream about a massive tsunami. He emphasized, "This time, I can clearly see the date," and said, "The day the disaster will occur is July 2025." He continued, "Suddenly, the seabed between Japan and the Philippines erupted, resulting in large waves spreading out in all directions from the sea surface, causing tsunamis in countries around the Pacific Ocean." He explained, "The height of the tsunami waves was three times larger than those during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake." He added, "Because of this impact, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines appeared to be connected as if they were one."

An editor from a major Japanese publishing company said, "With the increasing probability of a Nankai Trough earthquake, Tatsuki's new prophecy, who accurately predicted the Great East Japan Earthquake, is gaining attention," and added, "Some people are preparing to relocate to places like Hokkaido, believing in the prophecy."

Although Tatsuki gained attention for predicting the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and other events, not all the incidents he prophesied have come true, and some are known to have occurred in different years.

Meanwhile, following an earthquake off the southern coast of Kyushu last August, fear of a major earthquake has spread throughout Japan. At that time, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a "Major Earthquake Warning (Nankai Trough Earthquake Temporary Information)" stating, "The possibility of a major Nankai earthquake has increased several times compared to usual."
