"I Will Give Back the Love Received from Fans to Society"
Hanwha Eagles pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin (37) donated all the proceeds from the uniforms sold during the 2024 season to the Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation, which he leads.
On the 27th, the Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation announced, "The donated funds will be used for scholarships for youth players and support for baseball equipment."
Ryu Hyun-jin stated, "When I established the foundation, I pledged to give back to society the love I received from fans," adding, "I hope the donations will help nurture the dreams of young players."
Since its establishment in September 2023, the Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation has been engaged in activities such as baseball camps, scholarship programs for promising players and children with rare incurable diseases, and hosting charity golf tournaments.
Ryu Hyun-jin, who returned to the KBO League last year, ranked first in uniform sales within his team.
According to regulations, each team delivers 5-10% of the proceeds from the sale of named uniforms to the respective players.
