Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo District Office in Seoul, visited six local traditional markets ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday on the 25th to listen to the difficulties of merchants and attend to the livelihood of the people.
On the morning of the same day, Mayor Jin visited Songhwa Mural Market, Kkachisan Market, and Hwagok Central Market consecutively, extending New Year greetings to merchants and residents who came to purchase holiday foods. He also visited various stores in each market, buying holiday essentials such as rice cakes, fruits, and Korean traditional sweets, while checking the perceived prices of shopping baskets.

While having lunch with a representative merchant at a sundae soup restaurant inside the market, he also listened to the voices from the field struggling due to the domestic economic downturn. In the afternoon, he continued his livelihood-focused visits by going to Hwagok Bon-dong Market and Bangsin Traditional Market.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “I visited the sites to hear the voices of market merchants and residents more closely ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday,” adding, “I will do my best to monitor the local economy and livelihood so that the daily lives of residents can be maintained without disruption.”
