Tens of Thousands Gather for Rallies
Both For and Against President Yoon's Impeachment
On the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the 25th, rallies both for and against the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol were held across downtown Seoul.

The Korea Straightening Movement Headquarters (Daegukbon), led by Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church, held a "National Rally Against the Impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol" around 1 p.m. near Sejong-daero in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The organizers estimated 1 million attendees, while the police unofficially estimated 30,000.
On stage, slogans such as "Release the President" and "Arrest Lee Jae-myung" were chanted, and rally participants waved Taegeukgi and American flags while shouting slogans.
The Protestant group Save Korea held a "National Emergency Prayer Meeting" near the National Assembly Station in Yeongdeungpo-gu. The police estimated about 6,000 participants. Jeon Han-gil, known as Korea’s top history lecturer, attended and commented on martial law, saying he believes the term "Gye-mong-ryeong" (Enlightenment Order) is more appropriate.

The Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of Yoon Seok-yeol and Social Reform (Emergency Action) held the "8th Pan-Citizen March" in front of Exit 4 of Gyeongbokgung Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul, urging the impeachment of President Yoon. Participants held placards reading "End the Rebellion," "Dismiss Yoon Seok-yeol," as well as various light sticks and flags, shouting "The Constitutional Court must dismiss Yoon Seok-yeol, the mastermind of the rebellion," and "Let’s protect democracy with the power of the citizens." The organizers estimated about 100,000 attendees, while the police unofficially estimated 7,000.
