A public opinion poll revealed an extremely close virtual one-on-one race between Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Oh Se-hoon, mayor of Seoul, and Hong Joon-pyo, mayor of Daegu.
According to a poll conducted by YTN through the polling agency Embrain Republic over two days starting from the 22nd, surveying 1,003 voters nationwide and announced on the 25th, in the next presidential election virtual one-on-one matchups, Lee Jae-myung and Oh Se-hoon each recorded a tie at 41%.
Lee and Hong also showed a similarly tight race with the same figures.
Specifically, Lee Jae-myung was preferred among voters in their 40s and 50s, while Oh Se-hoon and Hong Joon-pyo were favored among those in their 60s and 70s and older. Among voters in their 20s and 30s, men tended to support Oh Se-hoon and Hong Joon-pyo, while women showed a preference for Lee Jae-myung.
In the matchup between Lee Jae-myung and Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, Lee received 42% and Kim 38%, showing a close race within the margin of error.
In the contest between Lee Jae-myung and Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the People Power Party, Lee recorded 39% and Han 33%. Against former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, Lee had 38% and Yoo 29%.
Regarding party support, the People Power Party led with 42%, followed by the Democratic Party at 38%, showing a close race within the margin of error. The Innovation Party for Justice received 4%, the Reform New Party 2%, and the Progressive Party 1%.
In the next presidential election perception survey, 45% answered that the current administration should be extended, while 47% said it should be replaced.
This survey was conducted via telephone interviews. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 19.4%. For more details, please refer to the Central Election Survey Deliberation Commission website.
