Jeon Mankwon, Former Vice Mayor of Cheonan, Nominated as People Power Party Candidate for Asan Mayoral By-election

Jeon Mankwon, Former Vice Mayor of Cheonan, Nominated as People Power Party Candidate for Asan Mayoral By-election People Power Party's Jeon Mankwon, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Asan, Chungnam, declaring his candidacy at the Asan City Hall briefing room on the 7th.

Jeon Mankwon, a preliminary candidate, has been selected as the People Power Party candidate for the Asan mayoral by-election scheduled for April 2.


The People Power Party's South Chungcheong Provincial Party Nomination Management Committee for By-elections held its fourth meeting on the morning of the 25th and decided to nominate Jeon, the former Vice Mayor of Cheonan, as the candidate.


Previously, the provincial party had selected former Vice Mayor Jeon, Maeng Uiseok, Vice Chairman of the Asan City Council, and Lee Sanguk, former Vice Mayor of Seosan, as candidates for the primary, and conducted a primary survey of general voters and party members from the 23rd to the 24th.


Jeon will be officially confirmed as the final candidate once he receives approval from the People Power Party Emergency Response Committee.


In the main election, he will compete against Oh Sehyun from the Democratic Party and Cho Deokho from the New Future Democratic Party.


In a phone interview on the same day, Jeon said, "Since this is an election with a term of just over a year, a crisis management expert is needed. I will focus on stabilizing people's livelihoods and revitalizing the local economy," adding, "Securing enough beds at the police hospital, which is the most urgent issue, will be my top priority."


Regarding the election process, he explained, "I plan to heal any aftereffects from the primary and form a one-team with the other preliminary candidates who competed together."


Meanwhile, the injunction filed by Lee Gyosik, head of the Asan City Policy Research Institute, and Yoo Kijun, former chairman of the Asan City Council, who were cut off during the candidate selection process, to prohibit the candidate decision against the provincial party, was dismissed.
