Lee Jun-seok Reproposes Debate on Election Fraud to Hwang Kyo-ahn
"If Your Claim Is Right, Isn't It Better to Present It?"
Rep. Lee Jun-seok of the Reform New Party once again proposed holding a debate with former Liberty Korea Party (now People Power Party) leader Hwang Kyo-ahn regarding allegations of election fraud.
On the 25th, Rep. Lee wrote on his Facebook, “Instead of accepting the debate proposal, former leader Hwang Kyo-ahn suggests coming to their revival meeting,” and asked, “Why refuse the debate?”
He questioned, “It’s a simple matter of designating a broadcasting station and requesting a debate,” adding, “Can a debate take place with an audience shouting in the playground of the Anti-Election Fraud Corruption Prevention Group (Bubangdae)?”
Rep. Lee said, “If your claim is correct, wouldn’t it be better to have the opportunity to present your argument on a broadcasting station? Why aren’t you confident?” He also proposed, “I don’t know why we should wait until February 14, but if you must do it on Valentine’s Day, how about securing the Channel A or TV Chosun studios located 200 meters away from the revival meeting venue you suggested and holding the debate there?”
The day before, Rep. Lee held a press conference at the National Assembly and declared, “I am declaring war against the election fraud conspiracy theory.” He said, “According to a Chosun Ilbo opinion poll, 43% of respondents sympathize with the allegations of election fraud,” calling it “a serious problem.”
He continued, “Eventually, the president got caught up in it and absurdly declared martial law and deployed the military to the National Election Commission,” adding, “On the 21st, the president’s lawyer even displayed a PPT as evidence of election fraud and preached conspiracy theories for hours at the Constitutional Court, which is a shameful event for the world.”
Mentioning former leader Hwang and famous Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil, who raised the election fraud allegations, he proposed unlimited debates, saying, “I am willing to debate anytime, anywhere, in any way, and with anyone, so please contact me.”
