Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, two men in their 30s were found dead at a campsite in Geumsan, Chungnam, prompting a police investigation.
According to Yonhap News on the 24th, the two men in their 30s were found dead inside a tent at a campsite in Geumsan at around 6:10 a.m. the previous day. Another man in his 30s who was inside the tent was rescued in a semi-conscious state.
The men, who were former colleagues and senior-junior acquaintances, are believed to have rented a car to travel to the campsite. After the rental company detected no further movement of the vehicle, they reported it to the police.
There were no signs of external intrusion or criminal suspicion, and police stated that a note expressing distress over debt was found on the smartphone of one of the deceased.
A police official said, "Preliminary investigation suggests the incident was caused by carbon monoxide poisoning," adding, "An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death."
