Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, in his diplomatic speech at the regular National Assembly session on the 24th, once again made unjust claims based on a distorted territorial perception about Dokdo, which is historically, geographically, and under international law clearly Korea's inherent territory.
On the 24th, Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo declared in a statement, “We demand the immediate withdrawal of the Japanese Foreign Minister’s annual unjust territorial claims over Dokdo, and as the governor responsible for Dokdo, I will resolutely respond together with all residents against any provocation regarding Dokdo.”
The governor also urged, “For the establishment of a future-oriented and mutually prosperous Korea-Japan relationship, Japan must abandon its expression of distorted historical perceptions and attempts at illegal invasion of Dokdo.”
