Encouraging Merchants While Monitoring Holiday Product Prices
Busan Gijang-gun reported that County Governor Jeong Jong-bok visited Gijang Market on the 23rd to communicate with market merchants and inspect the living conditions, including price stabilization.
On that day, Governor Jeong visited several stores within Gijang Market to check the prices of holiday seasonal products and encouraged merchants who are going through difficult times due to the challenging economic situation, listening to their grievances.

He also considered whether visitors to the market experienced any inconvenience and actively promoted Gijang Market as a place with the highest quality products nationwide and full of warmth and recognition.
Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “Since last year, the area around Gijang Market has been designated as a self-regulated commercial zone, increasing the number of stores accepting Onnuri gift certificates. We hope many people will visit Gijang Market this Lunar New Year to enjoy not only Gijang-gun’s clean agricultural and marine products but also the benefits of the Onnuri gift certificates.” He added, “We will continue to actively promote commercial revitalization projects around Gijang Market to be a strong support for merchants during these difficult times.”
Last year, the county achieved the designation of the area around Gijang Market as a neighborhood commercial development project site led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and as a self-regulated commercial zone. Accordingly, the county has established a five-year strategy for commercial revitalization and laid the foundation for revitalization projects, accelerating the project by applying for a commercial revitalization project contest in February this year.
Additionally, this year, the county secured a budget of approximately 350 million KRW for traditional market facility improvement projects, including building repairs and reinforcements, electrical equipment replacement, and water purification system installation. In preparation for this Lunar New Year holiday, a joint inspection with related agencies was conducted for fire prevention in traditional markets, completing safety inspections in areas such as fire, electricity, and gas, ensuring thorough safety management of traditional markets.
