Explaining Local Issues Through Presentations
"We Will Immediately Consult and Resolve What Is Possible"
"If you let us know, we will immediately communicate with the relevant department to resolve issues that the district office can handle, and if consultation with Seoul City is necessary, we will actively engage in discussions and work together with the residents throughout this year."
Yongsan-gu Mayor Park Hee-young held a relay New Year's business briefing by visiting 16 neighborhoods until the 24th. Provided by Yongsan-gu.
On the warm morning of the 23rd, at the auditorium on the 5th floor of the Seobinggo-dong Community Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Park Hee-young, the mayor of Yongsan-gu, attended the 'Seobinggo-dong New Year Business Report Meeting' and personally shook hands and greeted the approximately 200 residents who came to the event, saying this.
Starting from Huam-dong on the 13th, Mayor Park conducted New Year business report meetings across all 16 neighborhoods in Yongsan-gu, including Seobinggo-dong and Bogwang-dong on this day, and Namyeong-dong on the morning of the 24th.
What stood out was that Mayor Park personally gave presentations explaining the major ongoing projects in Yongsan-gu and key local issues that residents were most curious about in all 16 neighborhoods. On this day as well, Mayor Park introduced plans such as expanding the green infrastructure of Yongsan Park, the global city development plan, the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line and Gyeongwon Line railroads, the development project around Yongsan Electronics Market, and premium education policies, speaking for nearly 30 minutes.
Mayor Park said, "The obstacles to balanced development and efficient transportation networks in Yongsan-gu are the military base sites and above-ground railroads," adding, "We are working together with Seoul City to have the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line and Gyeongwon Line railroads selected as a pilot project."
He also introduced projects underway this year, including the application for designation of a specific development promotion district for the Yongsan Electronics Market development, the opening of an education support center, the establishment of a 50 Plus Job Center for middle-aged and older adults, and the opening of the Yongsan Senior Club.
Residents paid even more attention as Mayor Park presented on major local issues such as the development status of Seobinggo-dong. Mayor Park said, "Within this year, we plan to create a park golf course on the site of the 5th complex of the US military officers' housing and build an exercise track around it for walking or running." He also mentioned plans to increase the number of entrances to improve accessibility to the 5th complex of the officers' housing, which is popular among the MZ generation as a landmark.
When the mayor personally announced plans to install canopies on the pedestrian overpasses in front of Seobinggo Station and Hangang Middle School, the residents' applause grew louder. Mayor Park carefully explained not only issues of resident interest such as the development of a large parking lot in Dongbinggo Neighborhood Park and the installation of a children's English library but also practical projects closely related to residents' safety, including improvements to rainwater drain covers and the expansion of eligibility for shingles vaccination support.
Mayor Park said, "Through the business report meetings, I will consider what Yongsan-gu needs to do and create policies together with the residents," adding, "Like the dandelions that herald spring, I will strive for the happiness of all residents with new hope and passion." During the briefing sessions, Mayor Park met a total of 3,200 residents across the 16 neighborhoods.
