A New Children’s and Family Experience Space
Inspired by Andersen’s Fairy Tales Opens in Gijang Ceramic Village
On the 24th, Gijang-gun, Busan held an opening ceremony for the ‘Andersen Village and Fairy Tale Village’ and the children’s complex cultural space ‘Deullaknallak (Andersen Story Hall)’ at Gijang Ceramic Village.
The opening ceremony was attended by County Governor Jeong Jong-bok, Chairman Park Hong-bok and members of the County Council, members of the Busan City Council, and about 100 local residents.
‘Andersen Village and Fairy Tale Village’ is a project to create a play, experience, learning, and cultural space centered on children and families.
Together with the already operating Andersen Theater, new facilities including ▲Andersen Story Hall ▲Music Fountain ▲Sprout Plaza ▲Fairy Tale Playground have been newly established, creating a diverse and special experience space themed around Andersen’s fairy tales.
In particular, Andersen Story Hall is a new-concept playground with a total project cost of 2.2 billion KRW and a total floor area of 1,709.26 ㎥, consisting of reading, play, and digital experiences using advanced technology.
On the basement first floor, there are ▲an immersive experience zone called ‘The Snow Queen’s Mysterious Castle’ ▲‘Thumbelina’s Secret Garden’ created as an outdoor courtyard ▲and a play facility called ‘The Little Mermaid’s Treasure Island.’ On the first floor above ground, digital education and diverse experience spaces such as ▲‘The Emperor’s New Clothes Invitation’ ▲‘The Ugly Duckling’s Journey’ ▲‘Nightingale Music Yard’ ▲and ‘Andersen Library’ are provided.
Additionally, Fairy Tale Village is composed of a special outdoor playground on a 5,872 ㎥ site, featuring adventure stories combined with Andersen’s fairy tales such as ▲Ida’s Dream ▲Gerda’s Courage ▲Baby Duck’s Adventure ▲and The Little Mermaid’s Love.
Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “I hope Andersen Village and Fairy Tale Village become joyful learning spaces that provide children with opportunities for creative play and learning,” and added, “I expect it to establish itself as a new local attraction that many people enjoy as a special play culture experience facility for families.”
