Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced a new beginning for realizing youth policies where youth participation becomes policy through the Citizen Mayor Youth Policy.

On the 23rd, Namyangju City held the 4th Youth Policy Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council) appointment ceremony at the City Hall Yeoyudang. This Council is composed of 32 youth members selected through an open recruitment process.


They will take the lead in city administration by discovering policies and projects, supplementing existing policies from the youth perspective, and developing the Council into a core organization of youth governance in Namyangju City.


To this end, the city plans to expand the scope of activities and support for the members so that they can play a broader role.


Mayor Joo Gwang-deok of Namyangju City said at the appointment ceremony, “The Youth Policy Council is an important communication channel where young people directly plan and participate in projects for youth,” adding, “We will spare no support to ensure that your ideas and suggestions bear fruit as city policies.”


At the first meeting held after the appointment ceremony, the election of the chairperson was completed along with the formation of subcommittees, and future activity plans were discussed.


Kim Jeong-hwa, newly elected as the chairperson that day, expressed her aspirations, saying, “I will work closely with the Youth Policy Division to create various policies that can improve the lives of young people,” and “I will do my best to help Namyangju City become a city where youth want to live.”
