This project was initiated to respond to the crisis of local extinction and to seek ways to attract population inflow by utilizing the Local Extinction Response Fund. Construction began in December 2023 in the Samji-ri area of Yeongyang-eup and was completed in December 2024. The site covers an area of 3,834㎡ with a total floor area of 590㎡, comprising a total of 10 rural houses.

The county expects that the completion of this residential rural village will improve living conditions within the region, minimize population outflow caused by housing issues, and serve as a catalyst for attracting external population to the area.

Governor O Do-chang stated, “With the completion of the Yeongyang Residential Rural Village, we will strive to develop a pioneering model for population inflow, responding to local extinction and improving living conditions.”
