Jindo County to Distribute Jindo Arirang Gift Certificates
57 Billion KRW Supplementary Budget Allocated for March Distribution
Jindo County in Jeonnam Province (Governor Kim Heesu) will provide a livelihood recovery support fund of 200,000 KRW per person to all residents in an effort to revitalize the stagnant local economy.
According to the county on the 24th, the recipients are residents registered in Jindo, and the support will be provided in the form of Jindo Arirang Gift Certificates to encourage local spending. The total amount to be distributed is expected to reach 5.7 billion KRW, and the certificates can be freely used at 1,600 affiliated stores within the county, including restaurants, gas stations, and supermarkets.
The support will be distributed in March, after the Lunar New Year holiday, and will be fully funded by the county using the Jindo County Fiscal Stabilization Fund. It is expected that this direct support from the county will help boost the local economy and assist residents struggling due to the economic downturn caused by falling prices of agricultural and marine products such as abalone, gim, green onions, spring cabbage, and napa cabbage in Jindo.
As the economic downturn has continued, the county has been steadily reviewing ways to provide the livelihood recovery support fund since the end of last year, and has maintained close consultations with National Assembly member Park Ji-won, the Jindo County Council, and other relevant parties.
Governor Kim Heesu stated, "I hope that this livelihood recovery support fund will stimulate local consumption and become a beacon for economic recovery."
Meanwhile, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, Jindo County is holding a special discount event for the Jindo Arirang Gift Certificates to promote economic recovery and boost consumption, allowing residents to purchase the certificates at a 10% discount through local financial institutions.
