Attending Anti-Impeachment Prayer Rally for Yoon on the 25th
Raises Allegations of Election Fraud on YouTube Channel
Civil servant Korean history instructor Jeon Han-gil has come under scrutiny after raising suspicions of election fraud by the Central Election Management Committee (CEMC), and it is known that he plans to attend the anti-impeachment rally for President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 25th.
On the 22nd, the Protestant group Save in Korea announced on its official website that Jeon would participate in the "Save Korea National Emergency Prayer Meeting." The prayer meeting will be held on the 25th from 2 PM to 4 PM near Exit 3 of the National Assembly Station in Yeouido, Seoul, with Jeon, along with Son Hyun-bo, Kim Jeong-min, Yeom Bo-yeon, Pastor Seong Tae-jun, and Professor Lee Yong-hee attending.
Previously, Jeon raised suspicions of election fraud on his YouTube channel "Kkotboda Jeon Han-gil." On the 20th, in a video titled "The Republic of Korea's Chaos Caused by the CEMC," he began by saying, "As a civil service exam instructor, I thought of many students working at the CEMC and looked up a lot of information, but I was horrified." He continued, "I was shocked that a national institution funded by taxpayers' money resists audits by the Board of Audit and Inspection and even refuses investigations by the National Intelligence Service into suspected North Korean cyberterrorism and hacking." He further alleged a conspiracy, saying, "Not only the president but also the current opposition leader and opposition lawmakers, as well as former ruling party leaders and ruling party lawmakers, are raising suspicions of election fraud, revealing a total mess of corruption and suspicion."
However, current civil servants criticized Jeon, saying, "Go and see the people quietly working from dawn at polling stations or counting centers close to election day," "Don't you suspect that you yourself have been incited?" and "Such remarks mislead the many local government civil servants who respect you." In response, Jeon explained, "I pointed out the possibility of manipulation in the computer system, such as the difference between the total number of voters and the actual number of voters." He expressed his position, saying, "I have raised my voice for the passing of my civil servant students and for improving their treatment, such as salary increases. I hope the CEMC will reform itself and regain its honor as the most transparent and trusted institution so that civil servants can work with pride and dignity."
On the 22nd, the Democratic Party's Public Communication Office announced, "Regarding this incident (Jeon's remarks), 186 reports have been received at the Democratic Police Station (the party's related reporting body)." They added, "After internal discussions, it was decided to resolve the issue through YouTube's reporting procedure instead of filing a police complaint." They also stated, "We will formally report this video to Google and request fundamental solutions for similar cases as well," and urged, "We ask citizens to take bold and prompt reporting actions if such cases occur in the future."
