The Last Official Subsidy Under the DanTongBeop
Samsung Electronics' flagship new Galaxy S25 series has been set with a maximum official subsidy of 245,000 KRW. This is the last official subsidy before the abolition of the Act on the Improvement of Distribution Structure of Mobile Communication Terminals (DanTongBeop).
According to the telecommunications industry on the 24th, SK Telecom decided to provide an official subsidy ranging from 80,000 to 245,000 KRW for the Galaxy S25 series, which Samsung Electronics unveiled in the United States on the 22nd, regardless of the model. When adding the additional subsidy equivalent to 15% of the official subsidy, the total support amount is expected to be the highest among the three major carriers, ranging from 92,000 to 281,750 KRW.
KT set the official subsidy between 60,000 and 240,000 KRW depending on the plan. Including the additional subsidy, customers can receive support ranging from 69,000 to 276,000 KRW. LG Uplus's official subsidy ranges from 52,000 to 230,000 KRW, and with the additional subsidy, the total support amount is between 59,800 and 264,500 KRW.
Since Samsung Electronics froze the new model's price at the same level as the S24 series, carriers set subsidies at a similar level to the previous generation. The Galaxy S25 standard model starts at 1,155,000 KRW. The S25 Plus and Ultra models start at 1,353,000 KRW and 1,698,400 KRW, respectively. However, these are preliminary subsidies and may change later.
