The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, will hold the "2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games Republic of Korea Athletes' Send-off Ceremony" at 3 PM on the 24th at the Olympia Hall of Olympic Parktel.
Minister Yoo In-chon is scheduled to visit the ceremony site to encourage the athletes. About 200 people, including Yoon Sung-wook, Secretary General of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Choi Hong-hoon, team leader (President of the Korea Ski and Snowboard Association), presidents of city and provincial sports councils, executives of sports organizations by discipline, coaches, and athletes, will attend the ceremony to wish for the safety and success of the athletes.
The Winter Asian Games, held for the first time in 8 years, will take place in Harbin from February 7 to 14. A record number of 1,275 participants from 34 countries will compete. Ice sports events will be held in Harbin city, while snow sports events will be held in Yabuli, about 200 km away from Harbin.
Korea plans to send a delegation of 223 members (149 athletes and 74 officials) across 6 sports. The main team will depart on February 4 and return on February 15.
To support the safe participation of the athletes, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism operates a task force led by Second Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran. On the 20th, Vice Minister Jang visited the snow sports training site to check and encourage the athletes' training status. On-site at the competition venue, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee and the athletes' delegation will operate a comprehensive situation room.
Minister Yoo In-chon stated, "It is especially meaningful that the Winter Asian Games are held in Harbin, the stage of our independence movement, in the year marking the 80th anniversary of liberation. I hope our athletes can safely complete the competition without injury and return home, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will make every policy effort so that the athletes can focus on training without worry."
