The police have decided to sequentially transfer 58 suspects who attacked the Seoul Western District Court to the prosecution by tomorrow.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 23rd, they have agreed with the Western District Prosecutors' Office to transfer 58 individuals, against whom arrest warrants were issued for charges including intrusion and trespassing at the Western District Court, obstruction of the Public Officials Corruption Investigation Unit vehicles, and assault on police officers, by the 24th.
The police explained that the detention expiration dates fall between the 29th and 30th, which coincide with the Lunar New Year holiday, and they considered safety issues that could arise when escorting a large number of suspects. Earlier, the Western District Court issued arrest warrants for 58 out of 90 individuals who were caught in flagrante near the Western District Court and the Constitutional Court on the 18th and 19th.
A police official stated, "Even after the transfer of detainees, we will continue necessary investigations in cooperation with the prosecution," and added, "We plan to strictly prosecute other illegal actors as well as those who instigated or aided and abetted the acts."
