Lee Hyun-jae, Mayor of Hanam City, visited Seokbadae Shopping Street and Deokpung and Sinjang Traditional Markets on the 22nd and 23rd, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, along with representatives from the Hanam City Entrepreneurs Association and MG Hanam Saemaeul Geumgo. He encouraged small business owners, promoted shopping at traditional markets, and continued his warm efforts to support the local economy and livelihoods.

Traditional market merchants and small business owners warmly welcomed Mayor Lee Hyun-jae, Kim Seung-hyun, Chairman of the Hanam City Entrepreneurs Association, and Lee Jeom-bok, Chairman of MG Hanam Saemaeul Geumgo, with bright smiles, enthusiastically recommending holiday specialty products. Mayor Lee humorously said, “Enjoy the charm of the traditional market during the Lunar New Year peak season,” turning the scene into a sea of laughter.


Amid the busy merchants and customers preparing for the holiday, he greeted them warmly with “Happy New Year,” personally carried a shopping basket, and purchased popular holiday items such as yakshik (sweet rice dessert), fresh rice cakes, jujubes, and strawberries, engaging in friendly conversations with the merchants.


Additionally, Mayor Lee praised the market’s products, saying, “The ribs sold here are really delicious and perfect for the Lunar New Year table,” encouraging the merchants with a bright smile. Pointing to Shine Muscat grapes, he said, “Just one grape fills your mouth with a wonderful sweetness,” actively promoting the high-quality products of the traditional market.


Mayor Lee also sincerely listened to the difficulties faced by market merchants and small business owners, offering warm words to everyone he met. He said, “I truly appreciate your silent efforts despite the difficult economic situation,” and added, “Hanam City will do its best to support you during these challenging times.”


He then took commemorative photos with residents visiting the market for holiday preparations, encouraging more visitors by saying, “Your smiles bring great vitality to the market.”

Traditional markets in Hanam City are also holding various events for visitors in celebration of the Lunar New Year. At Deokpung and Sinjang Traditional Markets, a refund event for Onnuri gift certificates is being held from the 23rd to the 27th for purchases of 34,000 KRW or more on domestic agricultural and livestock products, and at the Seafood Traditional Market for domestic seafood. Visitors can receive a 10,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate refund for purchases over 34,000 KRW, and 20,000 KRW for purchases over 67,000 KRW.


Visitors wishing to receive the Onnuri gift certificate refund must bring the purchase receipt and ID on the same day. Refunds are available at Deokpung and Sinjang Traditional Markets from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and at the Seafood Traditional Market from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM.


Furthermore, Deokpung Traditional Market will operate a special Lunar New Year market from the 24th to the 28th to make holiday shopping even more abundant.


Mayor Lee Hyun-jae said, “I ask that you start your Lunar New Year preparations at the warm and affectionate traditional markets,” and added, “Hanam City will always do its best to ensure all citizens have a rich and happy holiday.”
