The National Happiness Civil Service Office is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluates the operation status of civil service offices across local governments, education offices, and special local administrative agencies nationwide and selects outstanding institutions.
The evaluation criteria consist of 24 items across 7 indicators in 4 areas: civil service office environment, service satisfaction, staff friendliness, and efforts to realize social value. Selected institutions maintain their outstanding status for three years.
Yeongju City first received the National Happiness Civil Service Office certification in 2021 and successfully achieved re-certification in 2024, proving once again that it is an excellent institution in civil service administration. To this end, various efforts were made to improve the quality of civil services and increase citizen satisfaction, including △creating spaces and providing supplies for vulnerable civil service groups △operating night civil service offices △conducting emergency response drills in civil service offices △providing digital civil services.
Mayor Park Nam-seo said, “We were able to be selected as a re-certified institution for the National Happiness Civil Service Office as a result of our constant efforts to provide citizen-centered customized administrative services,” and added, “We will do our best to become a happiness civil service office that gives citizens inspiration and happiness.”
Along with the re-certification of the National Happiness Civil Service Office, Yeongju City received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety as an outstanding institution and also won the grand prize in the 2024 civil service administration performance evaluation conducted by Gyeongbuk Province.
Through this re-certification, Yeongju City plans to maintain its status as an outstanding National Happiness Civil Service Office institution until 2027 and continuously promote civil service administration that enhances citizen satisfaction.
