4,573 Reports Received So Far... "Two Companies Expelled"
Sales Suspended for Five Companies, One Company Warned
Fashion platform Musinsa announced on the 23rd that it has requested certified test reports on the blend ratios of 7,968 types of duck down (duck feather) and cashmere clothing sold through its platform from each tenant company, and has received test reports for 4,573 types (57.4%) so far.
Musinsa will receive test reports or recent test request forms for the remaining clothing items under investigation by the end of this month. Companies that fail to submit these will have all their product sales suspended starting from the 3rd of next month. Additionally, Musinsa has randomly selected 1,057 products from those that submitted test reports and directly commissioned blend ratio investigations.
Previously, Musinsa expelled two companies that falsified blend ratios of related products and decided to suspend sales for a certain period for five companies. Since mid-last month, sales of Intempomood, which falsely stated the filling blend ratio of padding, have been suspended, and on April 1st, Rapzig Store was expelled. This month, the expulsion of Oro was decided, and sales of Good Life Works, Dimitri Black, Who Are You, and Laminez were suspended. Pepel received a warning.
Among them, Son Mo, CEO of fashion company Slow Standard, which operates Rapzig Store and Oro, was reported to the Uijeongbu Police Station on charges of fraud, obstruction of business, and violation of the Act on the Prevention of Unfair Competition.
Rapzig Store sold the 'Duck Down Arctic Hooded Padding' on Musinsa Store since 2023, stating that 80% of the filling was duck down, but the actual usage rate was found to be less than 5%.
Also, the women's fashion brand Oro, operated by Slow Standard, was found to have committed fraudulent acts such as misreporting padding blend ratios, using counterfeit materials, and design plagiarism.
The five companies subjected to sales suspension sanctions will be unable to sell all their products through Musinsa for a minimum of 5 days up to a maximum of 35 days. Musinsa will use this 'blend ratio issue' as an opportunity to reexamine its overall brand management operations. New brands will face higher entry standards and additional screening procedures to focus on brand verification.Existing brands will also have strengthened product registration procedures, making the submission of quality verification documents mandatory.
A Musinsa official said, "Domestic designer brands have rapidly expanded quantitatively, but we deeply acknowledge our responsibility for not thoroughly managing the qualitative growth aspects during this process," adding, "We will not limit the obligations and responsibilities of the intermediary in online sales and will become a differentiated fashion platform trusted by both customers and brands."
