The overseas talent recruitment project by the Jeonnam Office of Education, aimed at realizing 'Glocal Jeonnam Education,' is progressing smoothly.

These students, selected from countries such as Vietnam, Mongolia, and Indonesia, will receive pre-education at the Jeonnam Office of Education International Education Center until the 28th, after which they will enroll at Gurim Technical High School (28 students), Mokpo Girls’ Commercial High School (24 students), Korea Equine Industry High School (10 students), Wando Fisheries High School (8 students), and Jeonnam Life Science High School (7 students).

The Jeonnam Office of Education has established a systematic support plan to ensure the successful settlement of these overseas talents. The pre-education program focuses on building Korean language proficiency, adapting to the educational environment, and fostering cultural understanding, while also emphasizing psychological stability and daily life support for the students.

Each school is preparing customized curricula tailored to the students’ academic backgrounds. Gurim Technical High School will offer specialized education in architecture and technology, Mokpo Girls’ Commercial High School in AI and healthcare, Jeonnam Life Science High School in agriculture, Wando Fisheries High School in fisheries, and Korea Equine Industry High School in the equine industry.

This overseas talent recruitment serves as a preliminary step for the future establishment of the (tentatively named) Jeonnam International Vocational High School, with plans to convert Gangjin St. Joseph Intercultural High School into an international vocational high school in March 2026.

Superintendent Kim Daejung emphasized, “These overseas talents will become an important stepping stone for Jeonnam education to advance globally,” and added, “We will support students so they can nurture their dreams in Jeonnam and grow into glocal talents with international competitiveness.”
