Deloitte Korea Group announced in its report titled ‘Deloitte 2025 Advanced Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Industry Outlook’ published on the 23rd that a major transformation is expected across the advanced technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) industries centered on generative artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. Deloitte: "AI, Advanced Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Convergence Forms a Massive Innovation Ecosystem"

According to the report, agentic AI is expected to open a new era of innovation by automating tasks without human intervention. By 2025, 25% of companies adopting generative AI are expected to pilot agentic AI, and devices equipped with generative AI are projected to account for more than 30% of total smartphone shipments.

However, side effects from technological advancements are also discussed. Due to deepfake issues, the deepfake detection market is expected to rapidly grow from $5.5 billion in 2023 to $15.7 billion next year. Accordingly, systems to identify fake content and verify sources need to be strengthened, and raising public awareness along with technological investment is emphasized.

The trust level in generative AI’s privacy protection showed a gender gap, with men (31%) having higher trust than women (18%). Deloitte analyzed that addressing gender imbalance and improving trust in the AI industry have emerged as important tasks. Given the increased possibility that AI technology may contain gender bias, Deloitte pointed out that AI development should move toward a more inclusive and fair direction.

In the telecommunications industry, integration movements are expected to accelerate. Along with the deteriorating profitability of small-scale telecom operators, the adoption of FinOps to reduce cloud costs is actively underway. Deloitte forecasted that some companies could reduce cloud costs by up to 40% through this.

In the media industry, generative AI is creating new trends. Independent content creators are rapidly adopting AI, threatening the business models of existing large production companies, and content creation and distribution using generative AI are expected to bring changes across the media market. In sports infrastructure, digital technology is also playing a key role in regional revitalization and revenue diversification.

Son Jae-ho, Head of Growth Strategy at Deloitte Korea Group, said, “Advanced technology, media, and telecommunications industries are converging in new forms centered on AI technology, forming a massive innovation ecosystem through various interactions,” and added, “We hope this report helps readers understand the opportunities and risks brought by technological advancements and prepare for the future.”
