Livelihood Recovery in the Wake of the "Aircraft Disaster"
Swift Implementation of a 30 Billion KRW Supplementary Budget
Muan County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San), which was declared a special disaster zone due to the December 29 passenger plane accident, will provide a 100,000 KRW livelihood recovery support grant per person through a supplementary budget for public welfare recovery.
According to the county on the 23rd, a 30 billion KRW emergency supplementary budget for livelihood recovery, aimed at revitalizing the local economy and serving as a priming water for economic recovery, is planned to be implemented after the Lunar New Year holiday. This supplementary budget reflects the voices of county residents who have consistently demanded recovery measures since the accident, and the county plans to complete it in cooperation with the county council by March.
The livelihood recovery support grant will be provided as a 100,000 KRW Muan Love Gift Certificate per person, supporting residents whose daily lives are even more difficult than during the COVID-19 period and helping local small business owners overcome their crises. For the supplementary budget resources, the county plans to utilize 25.4 billion KRW in general grants secured by reducing consumption expenditures and expanding local allocation tax.
In addition, the county will execute 22 billion KRW, or 60% of the budget items subject to swift execution, in the first half of the year, including 2.3 billion KRW for farm income preservation due to the sharp drop in rice prices and 1.1 billion KRW in entrance congratulatory funds for elementary, middle, high school, and university students. The county also plans to expand the issuance of local currency up to 50 billion KRW, making every effort for public welfare recovery.
Governor Kim San said, "Even in a difficult financial situation, we have made the livelihood recovery support grant our top policy priority for the recovery of residents' livelihoods," and added, "I hope this supplementary budget will serve as a foundation for overcoming internal and external challenges and restoring the local economy."
