Daejeon City to Operate 24-Hour Emergency Quarantine Control Room During Lunar New Year Holiday

Daejeon City announced that it will operate an emergency quarantine system during the Lunar New Year holiday to ensure that citizens can spend the holiday safely and healthily.

With influenza spreading nationwide recently, Daejeon City will operate a 24-hour emergency quarantine situation room at the city and district (public health centers) levels from January 25 to February 2 to prevent and manage the group outbreak of winter infectious diseases during the holiday period.

The city plans to monitor the occurrence of respiratory infectious diseases such as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), as well as waterborne and foodborne infectious diseases, around the clock. In the event of a group outbreak, city and district epidemiological investigation teams will be immediately dispatched to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

In addition, a hotline will be established with the Daejeon Regional Maternal and Child Medical Center (Chungnam National University Hospital), local maternal and child medical centers (Konyang University Hospital, Eulji University Hospital), the Fire Department Headquarters, and the Regional Emergency Situation Room to respond immediately to emergency treatment and delivery for high-risk pregnant women.

Son Cheolung, Director of Sports and Health at Daejeon City, said, "We have established a 24-hour response system to prevent the spread of infectious diseases so that citizens can spend a safe and healthy Lunar New Year holiday, and we are fully prepared for emergency deliveries of high-risk pregnant women. We also ask all citizens to thoroughly practice personal hygiene such as hand washing and wearing masks to prevent infectious diseases during the winter season."
