Jeonju City to Continue Special 'Youth Monthly Rent' Support This Year... 200,000 Won per Month

Easing the Burden of Housing Costs

Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province has decided to continue providing monthly rent support this year to help alleviate the housing cost burden for young people struggling due to the prolonged economic downturn.


The city announced on the 22nd that it will implement the second phase of the Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support program, which provides young people with a monthly rent subsidy of 200,000 KRW for up to 24 months.

This program, overseen by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, aims to ease the housing cost burden for young people facing economic difficulties and help them settle in the region stably by providing a total of 4.8 million KRW over a maximum of 24 months, at 200,000 KRW per month.


From 2022 to 2024, the city has invested a total of 9.87 billion KRW to support rent payments for 41,729 individuals through this program. Notably, starting this year, the support has been expanded so that low-income youth can receive up to 24 installments regardless of the phase, and the payment period has also been extended by one year from the original end date of December 2026 to December 2027.


Eligible applicants are youth aged 19 to 34 who live separately from their parents, do not own a home, and have a housing subscription savings account. However, they must also meet income and asset criteria: the parental household must have a median income of 100% or less, the youth household 60% or less, parental household assets of 470 million KRW or less, and youth household assets of 122 million KRW or less.


Applications for the second phase of the Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support program can be submitted online via the Bokjiro website or in person at the local community center corresponding to the applicant's address until the 25th of next month.


Kim Seongsu, head of the Architecture Division, said, "As the application deadline for the second phase of the Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support program is the 25th of next month, I urge those who have not yet applied to do so within the deadline," and added, "We hope many young people will participate in this project, which aims to help them settle in the region."
