National Health Insurance Service Launches Lunar New Year Initiatives to Boost Local Economy and Support Vulnerable Groups

The National Health Insurance Service announced that on the 22nd, it held an event in the area around Wonju Jungang Market in Gangwon Province to purchase holiday goods and visit child welfare facilities to donate them in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.

This event was prepared with social contribution funds generously collected by the Service's employees to revitalize the Wonju local economy and to deliver warmth of love to children who may be marginalized during the holiday period.

The holiday shopping event was conducted together with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Economic Promotion Agency to support small merchants in traditional markets struggling due to the economic downturn. In particular, the Service held street busking to cheer on Wonju citizens who came to the market to prepare for the holiday.

After the traditional market shopping event, Director Jeong Gi-seok personally visited 'Simhyang Childcare Center,' a child-rearing facility in Wonju, delivered holiday goods purchased at the traditional market, and spent joyful time with the children.

This facility is home to children selected as part of the Service's representative social contribution project, 'Haneul Bandage Kids,' and the Service supports the children to grow up healthily.

Director Jeong Gi-seok said, "I feel warm-hearted to be able to spend time with Wonju citizens and the 'Haneul Bandage Kids' during the great national holiday of Seol," adding, "The Service will continue to communicate with the local community, care for neighbors in need, and always be with the people."
