24-Hour Comprehensive Situation Room to Be Operated
Seoul Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) will implement a 'Comprehensive Plan for the Lunar New Year Holiday' from the 24th of this month to the 3rd of next month.
This comprehensive plan consists of a total of 19 detailed projects across five key areas closely related to residents' lives: livelihood, transportation, safety, daily life, and establishment of public service discipline. To this end, a comprehensive situation room will be operated on the first floor of the government office during the holiday period, and a total of 143 staff members will work in shifts day and night in sector-specific task forces to respond promptly to emergencies.
Before and after the holiday, monetary gifts will be delivered to low-income groups, facilities for the disabled, and senior centers, and activities to protect marginalized groups such as checking on the well-being of elderly living alone and strengthening patrols for the homeless will be carried out. In addition, efforts will be made to strengthen safety management during the holiday period through emergency response to child abuse situations and special monitoring of youth harmful environment concentrated areas.
A comprehensive price control situation room will be operated to stabilize prices by specially managing Lunar New Year seasonal products, and a 'Lunar New Year Friendly City Specialty Direct Market' will be held to provide residents with excellent specialty products at affordable prices. Three traditional markets (Myeongil Traditional Market, Seongnae Traditional Market, Gobundari Traditional Market) will hold discount events including discounts on ritual items until the 24th.
To facilitate the movement of returning and departing travelers, all subway lines and major station and terminal route buses (Gangdong-gu passing buses: 3214, 3220) will operate extended hours, and night buses (N30, N31) will operate normally as usual (23:20~03:40).
A traffic comprehensive situation room for illegal parking enforcement will also be operated from the 24th to the 31st of this month. Additionally, two schools and seven public parking lots will be opened free of charge to provide parking convenience and minimize inconvenience to residents.
To maintain the emergency medical system during the holiday, information on on-duty medical institutions and operating pharmacies will be provided through the health center consultation team, Dasan Call Center, and Emergency Situation Management Center. In particular, public medical services for vulnerable groups will be available at the health center clinics operating on January 28-29.
In response to the influenza (flu) epidemic warning coinciding with the Lunar New Year holiday, vaccination will be expanded not only for high-risk groups but also for workers in vulnerable facilities. Medical institutions where vaccinations can be administered during the holiday will be designated to strengthen influenza infection management and promote preventive measures. A list of nearby medical institutions offering vaccinations can be easily checked on the Vaccination Helper website.
The district will also maintain a 24-hour emergency duty system during the holiday period and respond promptly to various disasters and accidents. Furthermore, in preparation for cold waves and heavy snowfall before the holiday, vulnerable facilities, roads, and major construction sites will be inspected in advance, and cultural and sports facilities, parks and green spaces, and welfare facilities frequently used by residents will be thoroughly checked to prevent various accidents.
With the extension of the holiday period due to the designation of a temporary holiday on the 27th of this month, a cleaning situation room and mobile teams will be operated to promptly resolve residents' inconveniences related to household waste collection. In addition, special cleaning for the Lunar New Year will be conducted mainly in multi-use facilities, and household waste disposal will be prohibited for three days during the holiday period: the 25th, 27th, and 28th. On days when disposal is allowed, waste can be put out from 8 PM to 4 AM the next day.
District Mayor Lee Soo-hee said, “We will do our best to establish a rapid response system for disaster and accident preparedness and to implement a comprehensive plan closely linked to residents' lives so that all residents can have a safe and healthy Lunar New Year holiday.”
