Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) held the ‘2025 Children’s Right to Play Guarantee Committee’ on the 22nd, with 10 committee members attending.
This meeting was organized to review support plans for guaranteeing children’s right to play, evaluate the achievements of last year’s projects, and gather opinions for system improvement and environment creation. The committee has been held every January based on the ‘Ordinance on Guaranteeing Children’s Right to Play by Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education,’ enacted in 2019.
The 2025 support plan for guaranteeing children’s right to play was established reflecting the results of an online survey conducted from December 2 to 20 last year. In the survey, which involved 1,117 participants including kindergarten and elementary school teachers and parents, 75% responded that they were satisfied with the Gyeongbuk Office of Education’s policies supporting children’s right to play.
The main areas with high satisfaction were play-centered curriculum operation, school space restructuring, and distribution of play equipment and materials.
Based on the survey results, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education concretized the 2025 support plan focusing on four major tasks: operation of play curriculum, creation of play-centered environments, development and distribution of play materials, and strengthening the capacity of the educational community.
The committee, composed of play education experts from various fields, reviewed the 2025 support plan proposed by the Gyeongbuk Office of Education and provided diverse opinions regarding system improvement and environment creation related to children’s play.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to reflect the opinions presented by the committee in the 2025 plan and guide kindergartens and elementary schools in the province before the new school year preparation week.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik of Gyeongbuk Office of Education said, “Children’s right to play is as important as a fundamental right,” adding, “We will create schools where children learn through play and dream of the future. We will spare no support so that all children in Gyeongbuk can communicate through play and cultivate a warm life.”
