Change of Signage at Exit 2 of Ssangmun Station in Dobong-gu to 'Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street'

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has changed the signboard at Exit 2 of Ssangmun Station to "Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street."

The district announced that, in cooperation with Seoul Metro, the signboard at Exit 2 of Ssangmun Station was changed from the old Changdong Market to Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street.

Along with changing the signboard to Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street, all signs inside Ssangmun Station, including digital comprehensive guides and general maps, were also updated.

A district official stated, "This is to enhance awareness of Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street and to revitalize the commercial area through this."

Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street is an alley commercial district formed near Exit 2 of Ssangmun Station. Recently, since a few years ago, unique cafes, restaurants, and various cultural spaces have been established here, attracting not only the younger generation but people of all ages.

In addition, the district is making great efforts to attract more visitors. They are working on various fronts, from creating hub spaces to hosting festivals.

In October 2022, the district created a multipurpose community space called "Ssangridan-gil Platform, Moduon" on the third floor of the Chang 1-dong public parking lot. This space currently serves as a hub institution for the activation of Ssangridan-gil as well as a community space for residents.

Festivals that reflect the characteristics of the shopping street are held annually. Starting with the 2022 Ssangridan-gil Winter Festival "Moduon," the 2023 Ssangridan-gil Starlight Festival, and the 2024 Ssangridan-gil Starlight Night Market were held. In fact, at the 2024 Ssangridan-gil Starlight Night Market, analysis of foot traffic showed an 82% increase in visitors compared to the same month of the previous year.

Besides this, the district is promoting projects such as the "Artterior Project," photo zones, and the installation of pillar signs to improve and develop Ssangridan-gil.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street is a space where the nostalgic alleyway of the past has been modernly reinterpreted and is currently loved by many people," adding, "With this change, I hope more people will visit Ssangridan-gil and that the area will become more vibrant."
