The Fourth Prison Letter from Cho Kuk: "We Must Not Forget the Crippled Sorcerer, Kim Geon-hee"

"Those Who Advocate the 'Both Sides Theory' Are Accomplices to Rebellion"
Criticism Mounts Against the 'Both Sides Theory'

Former leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, Cho Guk, currently imprisoned at Seoul Detention Center, emphasized on the 21st that “Kim Geon-hee played a key role in the creation and operation of the prosecutorial dictatorship regime” and that Mrs. Kim Geon-hee must not be forgotten.

On Cho’s Facebook, a three-page letter from prison was posted that day. The letter appears to have been written on the 17th. This is the fourth letter Cho has sent from prison.

Previously, Cho was sentenced by the Supreme Court on the 12th of last month to two years in prison and a fine of 6 million won for charges including his children’s admission fraud, resulting in the immediate loss of his parliamentary seat. Four days later, on the 16th, he was incarcerated at Seoul Detention Center.

Cho stated, “Yoon Seok-yeol, the ‘lawless’ (法暴) destroyer of the constitution and rule of law, has been admitted here at Seoul Detention Center,” adding, “Although it will be difficult to realize due to special management of movement, if I happen to encounter him, I will look him straight in the eye and shout, ‘Yoon Seok-yeol, leader of the rebellion, kneel before the people!’”

He continued, “No matter how much the coward Yoon Seok-yeol struggles or tells lies, it will not work,” emphasizing that Yoon will surely be judged. Cho then said, “There are a few things I want to ask for.”

He then conveyed three requests, mentioning Mrs. Kim first. He said, “First, we must not forget Kim Geon-hee, the ‘crippled shaman’ who co-runs the regime,” emphasizing, “Kim Geon-hee played a central role in the creation and operation of the prosecutorial dictatorship regime, intervening in state affairs and candidate nominations despite not being an elected official. Let us not forget that Kim Geon-hee is next in line.”

He also requested, “We must not forget that the Yoon Seok-yeol regime is a ‘prosecutorial dictatorship’ and must achieve prosecutorial reform, including the separation of investigation and prosecution.” He added, “Key positions in the regime are held by former prosecutors. Currently, the ruling party People Power Party’s emergency committee chairman Kwon Young-se and floor leader Kwon Seong-dong are both former prosecutors,” and claimed, “The prosecution under Yoon Seok-yeol’s regime covered up crimes and corruption allegations of Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geon-hee, while putting all efforts into destroying opposition figures such as Moon Jae-in and Lee Jae-myung.”

Finally, Cho urged, “Do not be deceived by the ‘both sides theory’ spread by the People Power Party, conservative media, and far-right YouTubers.” He said, “They are spouting nonsense that the opposition party obstructed state affairs, forcing Yoon Seok-yeol to declare martial law,” adding, “They are whitewashing Yoon Seok-yeol’s crimes and distorting the essence of the matter. We must not be fooled.” He further stated, “Those who now speak of the both sides theory are accomplices to rebellion and collaborators of the prosecutorial dictatorship regime.”

Cho also shared news of his upcoming transfer. He said, “I will soon be transferred to a new location,” and concluded the letter with, “I will greet you again from the new place.”

Meanwhile, on the same day, President Yoon personally attended the third hearing of the impeachment trial. This was the first public appearance since the ‘12·3 emergency martial law,’ and it was the first time in constitutional history that a president appeared in person at the Constitutional Court’s trial chamber.
