Joint Gas Safety Inspections and Accident Prevention Efforts
for a Safe Lunar New Year Holiday
In anticipation of the Lunar New Year holiday, Pohang City conducted safety inspections on February 20th and 21st at multi-use facilities such as stations, bus and ship passenger terminals, and department stores to prevent safety accidents caused by gas facilities and ensure stable supply.

In particular, the city established a cooperative system with the Korea Gas Safety Corporation's Gyeongbuk Eastern Branch to inspect the maintenance status of energy facilities in multi-use facilities, check for leaks, attachment and operation of safety devices, and directly improve minor issues on-site. For cases where direct action is difficult, the city plans to request corrective measures from the business operators and verify improvements to prevent safety accidents in advance.
The city is verifying the implementation of voluntary safety inspections for city gas supply facilities and has established an emergency contact network among gas sales operators to ensure stable gas supply so that citizens can have a safe and enjoyable Lunar New Year holiday.
Jung Gyudeok, Director of the Hydrogen Energy Industry Division, stated, “We will do our best to prevent safety accidents during the holiday period and to avoid any inconvenience in energy use, such as interruptions in city gas supply or reluctance to sell LPG.”
