"It's Great to Build Empathy with Viewers"

"Rather than fascinating content or special ideas, it was thanks to the support of my family who warm my life that the channel was able to grow. I think stories like these are among the most needed content in today's harsh world."

Creator and former StarCraft1 pro gamer 'Honggu' (real name Im Honggyu) runs both the 'ActionHonggu' and 'BalStarHonggu' channels simultaneously. After all StarCraft1 pro teams disbanded and the stage for gamers gradually narrowed, he found a new direction and came across internet broadcasting. Since then, he has been active as a creator for over 13 years.

His channel BalStarHonggu posts StarCraft content utilizing his gaming skills, having won the individual league (ASL). On the other hand, the ActionHonggu channel mainly covers various daily life events, stories about family and people around him, and mukbang content. Videos capturing the daily life of Im’s daughter 'Haim' adjusting to kindergarten have attracted millions of views and gained attention.

The hallmark of the ActionHonggu channel is consistency and diligence. The BalStarHonggu channel streams live gameplays and cleverly edits the most entertaining parts, posting more than six videos a week. The ActionHonggu channel also consistently uploads content every 4 to 5 days while actively communicating with fans. Im said, "Trying to consistently show many videos makes the preparation and filming process tough and time-consuming, but since there are so many subscribers who like it, I gain strength from that and work hard."

Recently, he partnered with the agency 'GoodWorkLab' and opened a 'YouTube Shopping Exclusive Store' through the Cafe24 platform, expanding his business into commerce. On the ActionHonggu channel, content featuring visits to delicious gukbap (Korean soup with rice) restaurants nationwide is popular. Inspired by this, he is employing a strategy that connects content and commerce. The channel provides a gateway for easy purchase by introducing products within the 'Store' tab and various content.

Creator Im said, "I personally tried 'Seocho Jangteo Sundaegukbap' and 'Seocho Sagol Yukgaejang,' developed by 'AejugaTVChamPD's Haegideuk Market,' and thought their taste and price competitiveness were excellent, which led me to decide to sell them. I feel happy to have the opportunity to taste and share the gukbap and yukgaejang products I find delicious with my viewers."

He added, "The YouTube Shopping feature was very easy to link, and creators can accurately check the data of sales processes, which was great. I think it’s good that if viewers want to eat what I’m eating while watching content, we can form empathy through the products sold. I believe creators should try this as a new revenue business."
