Daejeon City Council Chair Cho Wonhui: "Will Establish a Special Committee on the People's Economy to Support Small Business Owners and the Self-Employed"

Jo Wonhui, chairman of the Daejeon City Council, is holding a New Year press briefing with standing committee chairmen at the city council press room on the 21st.

Daejeon Metropolitan Council will establish a "Special Committee on Public Livelihood Economy" to support small business owners and self-employed individuals struggling with high inflation, high interest rates, and high exchange rates.

On the morning of the 21st, Council Chair Cho Wonhui held a New Year's press briefing at the council's press room and stated, "We plan to focus all our efforts on revitalizing the local economy, centering on small business owners and self-employed individuals who form the backbone of the community economy." He added, "We plan to form and operate a tentatively named Special Committee on Public Livelihood Economy in February."

He continued, "The Special Committee on Public Livelihood Economy will be responsible for assessing the current situation, developing policies, and enacting or revising ordinances to support small business owners and self-employed individuals in the Daejeon area." He added, "We will focus on maximizing the effectiveness of policies and budgets through customized measures, early execution, and emergency supplementary budgets as proactive responses."

He also stated, "The Innovation Advisory Committee, launched last October, will identify and develop various innovative measures by diagnosing and seeking improvements in all aspects of the council's functions, including personnel, budgeting, organization, legislation, and policy." He continued, "In preparation for the enactment of the Local Council Act, which will focus on reflecting the council's autonomy in organization and budget formulation, we will establish a vision for an independent and autonomous council, as well as pursue changes and innovation in council operations."

Chair Cho Wonhui emphasized, "This year marks the practical first year of the latter half of the 9th council. With the phrase 'Geuksecheokdo,' meaning to overcome difficulties and pioneer a new path, engraved in our hearts, we will carry out our legislative activities for the new year." He added, "We will become a reliable pillar that protects the safety and livelihoods of citizens."
