Genesis Unveils Tribute Model for Brand Partner Jackie Ickx

The Genesis brand announced on the 21st that its brand partner Jackie Ickx participated as an honorary driver in the '2025 Dakar Rally,' driving the luxury off-roader 'GV80 Desert Edition' for over 6,000 km across desert terrain.

The GV80 Desert Edition is a special tribute model specially created by Genesis to honor Jackie Ickx's achievements and spirit of challenge, who won the 1983 Paris-Dakar Rally, and to celebrate Jackie Ickx's 80th birthday. It is optimized for rough terrain driving with features such as a custom suspension with adjustable ride height and damping settings.

The vehicle features a Capri Blue color and white stripe pattern inspired by the helmet design used by Jackie Ickx during his active career, along with extended front and rear fenders, beadlock forged wheels, an LED lighting system, and a custom roof rack.

Jackie Ickx left a profound mark on motorsport history with diverse records, including winning the Dakar Rally, six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and eight wins in Formula 1. Jackie Ickx stated, "Driving the GV80 Desert Edition myself allowed me to glimpse the infinite potential of Genesis," adding, "I am grateful to Genesis for letting me step back into the Dakar Rally after 42 years, and I will continue to support promoting the Genesis brand as a brand ambassador throughout this year."
