The new product detects a total of nine types of pollutants, including sensors that detect existing fine dust, ultrafine dust, ultrafine particulate matter, and harmful gases such as volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) through the AI air quality sensor.
The AI air quality sensor was developed by LG Electronics to detect pollutants such as formaldehyde, which causes sick house syndrome, ammonia, which causes pet urine odor, and cooking fumes, for customers sensitive to indoor air quality. The sensor was also tested by the Korea Standards Association. As a result, the sensor trained with deep learning was confirmed to detect three types of harmful gases (formaldehyde, ammonia, volatile organic compounds) and cooking fumes, automatically purifying the air according to the type and level of pollution.
The new product equipped with the sensor also offers an 'AI Customized Operation Function.' It learns and analyzes indoor air quality every hour. Based on accumulated data, it identifies times when the air quality is clean, stops the air purifier fan operation, and lowers the display brightness to save energy. By automatically analyzing air quality and adjusting operation intensity, the product can reduce power consumption by more than 50% compared to the existing AI mode, helping to save on electricity bills.
This function and the AI air quality sensor have also received the 'AI+ Certification.' LG Electronics' product is the first in Korea to receive AI+ certification for an air quality sensor. The AI+ certification, granted by the Korea Standards Association and the nationally accredited testing and certification body WiseStone, verifies the quality of products applying AI technology based on international standards for AI quality (ISO/IEC 25059, 25051, 25053, 42001).
The new air purifier applies the next-generation filter, the 'Puri Deodorization Purification M Filter,' which improves deodorization performance by more than 40% compared to the existing Puri Deodorization Purification G Filter. It features a metal-organic framework (MOF), a new material with micro-pores that can adsorb gases. Additionally, based on air quality data analyzed by the AI air quality sensor, the LG ThinQ app recommends specialized filters tailored to indoor pollutants, such as the 'Pet Specialized Filter' that removes pet odors, the 'New House Specialized Filter' that removes sick house syndrome-causing substances, and the 'Cooking Fume Specialized Filter' that removes cooking fumes, enabling effective air quality management.
This new air purifier also inherits the differentiated performance of previous models. A UVC LED lamp is installed in the center of the bottom of the new product, sterilizing the discharged air with UVC (ultraviolet light), significantly enhancing hygiene. The UV sterilization function removes 99.9% of airborne bacteria and 99.8% of airborne viruses in the air passing through the filter.
The product will be available in two colors: Sand Beige and Nature Green, with a suggested retail price of 2.09 million KRW. Using a subscription service, which has become a new way to experience home appliances, allows for even more hygienic use. Care experts provide product status checks, filter replacements, and management, as well as free repair benefits during the subscription period. If customers apply for the premium care service, care experts visit at 30 and 60 months to disassemble and clean parts such as the product cover, grille, and fan, and provide steam sterilization services.
Hong Sun-yeol, head of LG Electronics' ES Business Division Air Care Business, said, "With an innovative air quality management solution enhanced with empathetic intelligence, we will provide differentiated customer experiences in indoor air purification and hygiene."
