Yeongcheon City in Gyeongbuk is focusing its efforts on selling 'Shine Muscat,' a specialty of Yeongcheon, during the Lunar New Year peak season.
Yeongcheon City and the Yeongcheon City Cooperative Joint Business Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the Cooperative Corporation) announced on the 20th that they held a surprise sales event for Yeongcheon Shine Muscat at the Hanaro Mart Nonghyup Ulsan Distribution Center in Buk-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City, for three days from the 17th to the 19th, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

At this event, 1,000 boxes of 15kg storage Shine Muscat from 2024 were sold at an affordable price of 8,784 KRW per box through discount support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Despite the short duration of the event, it gained explosive popularity among Ulsan consumers, resulting in a complete sell-out of the sales volume.
According to a Yeongcheon City official, the previous sales event for 'Yeongcheon Shine Muscat' held for three days last December at the same location attracted explosive popularity from consumers, selling out 1,000 boxes of 1.5kg size, which led to the additional event in January.
Furthermore, due to the price drop of Shine Muscat last year, many farmers stored large quantities in cold storage. Before the quality of the stored Shine Muscat deteriorates, another sales event to promote the consumption of storage Shine Muscat is planned to be held between February and March.
Choi Ki-moon, Mayor of Yeongcheon City, said, “Starting with the first promotional event for Yeongcheon Shine Muscat in Ulsan in the new year of Eulsa, we will do our best to inform consumers in more regions about the excellent quality of Yeongcheon fruits and secure loyal customers for Yeongcheon fruits nationwide.”
