Park Soyoung Refutes Rumors:
"I Have Never Attended the Rally Where President Yoon Was Present"
MBC announcer Park So-young directly clarified rumors about herself, stating that "she has never attended the rally where President Yoon was present."
On the morning of the 19th, Park announced through her social media (SNS), "I have not attended the rally site today, and I clearly state that all content related to me and the rally site is false." She added, "Therefore, I ask that the spread of false information online, including on SNS, and indiscriminate personal attacks be stopped."
The day before, at the Seoul Western District Court, a pretrial detention hearing (warrant review) was held for President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is accused of leading a rebellion and obstructing the exercise of official duties. On that day, supporters of President Yoon continued to protest near the court, and some of them reportedly threatened MBC reporters. Meanwhile, unverified posts claiming that announcer Park appeared at the rally site were shared online. In particular, some claimed that an MBC female reporter was struck by an elderly woman and fell down. As these claims spread, it appears that Park So-young stepped forward to clarify. Park, who joined MBC in 2021, hosts programs such as 'News Desk - Sports News.'
Meanwhile, on the 19th at around 2:50 a.m., Chief Judge Cha Eun-kyung of the Seoul Western District Court issued an arrest warrant for President Yoon, citing "concerns that the suspect may destroy evidence." Since being assigned to the pretrial detention hearing for President Yoon on the 17th, Judge Cha requested police protection and is currently under such measures. Immediately after the news of the arrest warrant issuance was announced, supporters of President Yoon stormed the Seoul Western District Court looking for Judge Cha, but it was reported that she was not on the court premises at that time.
The detained President Yoon will use a single-occupancy cell in the Seoul Detention Center and must undergo formal admission procedures, including identity verification and a thorough physical examination. After completing this process, President Yoon will wear the detention uniform issued to detainees and have a mugshot taken while holding a board with his detention number. This is the first time in constitutional history that a sitting president has been detained.
