The prosecution rejected the arrest warrant for Kim Seong-hoon, the deputy chief of security, who is accused of leading the obstruction of the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
The Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency announced on the 19th through a press release, "The prosecution did not request an arrest warrant for Deputy Chief Kim."
The Special Investigation Unit had applied for an arrest warrant the previous day. Deputy Chief Kim was arrested by the police immediately after appearing at the National Police Agency on the 17th. After the investigation on the same day, he was transferred to the detention center at Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul.
Deputy Chief Kim entered the interrogation room without responding to reporters' questions such as "Do you continue to deny the charges?" and "Do you admit to obstructing the execution of the arrest warrant?"
Baek Ui-cheol, the lawyer representing Deputy Chief Kim, told reporters, "Deputy Chief Kim was only following the security manual," adding, "It was appropriate to present the arrest warrant outside the official residence. Since there was an illegal entry, the arrest warrant was presented, and the security office only responded according to principles."
