The Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Headquarters announced on the 18th through a press release, "We have applied for an arrest warrant for Deputy Chief Kim."
Deputy Chief Kim was arrested by the police immediately after appearing at the National Police Agency the previous day. After the investigation was completed on the same day, he was transferred to the detention center at Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul.
When reporters asked questions such as "Do you continue to deny the charges?" and "Do you admit to obstructing the execution of the arrest warrant?" Deputy Chief Kim did not respond and entered the interrogation room.
Attorney Bae Ui-cheol, representing Deputy Chief Kim, told reporters, "Deputy Chief Kim was only following the security manual," adding, "It was appropriate to present the arrest warrant outside the official residence. Since there was an illegal entry, the arrest warrant was presented, and the Security Office only responded according to principles."
