Official Instagram Account Unavailable Due to Hacking
Victim of Another Attack Last May... "Frequent Hacking Attempts"
The social media accounts of Seongsimdang, a famous native bakery in Daejeon, were hacked.
On the 17th, Seongsimdang announced through its official Instagram accounts, including the main store and Lotte branch, that “the official Seongsimdang Instagram account is currently inaccessible due to ID theft” and “since the account is not manageable, any posts uploaded from now until the account is restored are unrelated to Seongsimdang.”
They also urged, “Customers who have received DMs (direct messages) from the compromised account are requested not to respond.”

Seongsimdang added, “We are attempting to recover the account and ask for your understanding until the account is restored.”
This news spread through online communities and other channels. Netizens expressed anger, saying, “Do not mess with Seongsimdang, the heart of Daejeon.”
This is not the first time Seongsimdang has suffered from hacking. In May of last year, Seongsimdang’s online mall, ‘Seongsimdang Mall,’ was hacked with malicious code that redirected users to a phishing site.
Seongsimdang Mall sells traditional snacks online, excluding products that are difficult to store for long periods, such as fried soboro and the highly popular strawberry siru.
In response, Seongsimdang informed customers of this incident on their homepage and urged them to change their passwords.
At that time, police and related experts stated, “Since many customers flock to Seongsimdang these days, it seems the online mall was targeted for attack.”
They further analyzed, “It appears the target was not the bread-making recipes but rather the customer information from Naver, as Seongsimdang attracts many visitors. Since personal authentication through Naver can enable financial crimes, this was likely the motive.”
A Seongsimdang representative explained, “There have been multiple hacking attempts. Although we have recently grown rapidly and gained attention, we have not yet established a dedicated hacking prevention department like large corporations.”
Seongsimdang’s operating profit last year surged to 31.5 billion KRW, more than doubling from the previous year’s 15.4 billion KRW, significantly surpassing the operating profits of major bakery corporations such as Paris Croissant (Paris Baguette, 19.9 billion KRW) and CJ Foodville (Tous Les Jours, 21.4 billion KRW).
