The ruling and opposition party leadership continued negotiations on the special investigation bill related to the emergency martial law situation but failed to find common ground.

The floor leaders of both parties held negotiations on the special investigation bill on the 17th afternoon, presided over by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik.

After continuing the negotiations, Park Chan-dae, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, told reporters, "As of the current time (8:30 PM), negotiations between the ruling and opposition parties have broken down," adding, "There are no plans to meet again today."

Park also stated, "No matter how difficult the consultations are, we plan to pass the bill within today," leaving open the possibility of a unilateral vote by the opposition party.
