Recently, there have been a series of attempted crimes in Dangjin, Chungnam, involving individuals impersonating military unit officers, prompting the need for special preventive measures.

According to Dangjin City and other sources on the 17th, there have been attempts to commit fraud by impersonating local military officers, promising to pay for goods and then trying to collect them from certain hardware stores.

Although no confirmed damages have been reported so far, on the 16th and 17th, there were cases where two hardware stores were asked to provide goods such as drill tool sets worth about 1 million won, with the promise of payment.

The unidentified person impersonating a military officer reportedly presented fake official documents titled 'Unit Supplies Payment Guarantee' and '2025 Unit Maintenance Consumables Purchase Approval.'

These documents included seemingly reliable information such as the unit name, payment amount, and the name of the person in charge, but the unit confirmed that neither the person in charge nor the request actually existed.

A city official stated, "The city has established an immediate communication network in cooperation with the military unit," and urged, "If anyone claims to be a military unit official and requests a transaction on credit, please contact the Dangjin City Disaster and Safety Situation Room to verify the facts."

Meanwhile, last December in Incheon, there were similar cases of financial damage amounting to 8 million won and 16 million won each, caused by individuals impersonating military officers. Around the same time, there was also a report of a group food order placed at a restaurant, after which the perpetrators disappeared.
