Integrated Management of Restorative Life Education and Conflict Mediation
Comprised of 50 Teachers and 40 Members Including Youth Experts
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) will operate the Education Community Recovery Support Team starting from March to create a peaceful and warm school culture.
Recently, the number of reported school violence cases has been continuously increasing, and the response rate of elementary school students experiencing victimization is rising. Meanwhile, conflicts caused by difficulties in forming relationships among students are steadily increasing.
In response, the Ulsan Office of Education has been committed to restorative life education, including community building, relationship recovery, and conflict mediation through dialogue meetings.
They plan to newly organize and operate the Education Community Recovery Support Team by integrating the previously operated ‘Visiting Restorative Life Education Instructor Group’ and ‘School Violence Reconciliation and Dispute Mediation Support Team’ until last year.
This support team aims to systematically support community building, relationship recovery, and conflict mediation by integrating restorative life education and conflict resolution into a single system.
The Education Community Recovery Support Team is divided into the ‘Restorative Life Education Division’ and the ‘Conflict Mediation Division.’
The Restorative Life Education Division consists of 50 teachers and provides restorative life education directly to students.
The Conflict Mediation Division is composed of 40 members, including teachers, youth experts, and conflict mediation specialists, and is responsible for mediating conflicts between schools or within communities.
The support team plans to apply restorative life education, dialogue meetings, and recovery programs tailored to various conflict situations, ranging from minor conflicts to conflicts within classes and complex conflicts involving multiple parties.
The Ulsan Office of Education is recruiting members for the Education Community Recovery Support Team until the 24th. Detailed information about the recruitment can be found in the announcement section of the Ulsan Office of Education website under information disclosure.
An official from the Ulsan Office of Education said, “Operating the Education Community Recovery Support Team will enhance educational capabilities for conflict resolution,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that students can enjoy a peaceful and happy school life.”
