As the mecca of mountain sports, Cheongsong-gun will host the 2025 Cheongsong National Ice Climbing Championship & Cheongsong ICE CLIMBING Festival from the 18th to the 19th at the Ice Climbing World Cup venue located in Naeryong-ri, Juwangsan-myeon, Cheongsong-gun.

The event was originally scheduled to take place from January 4th to 5th, but was postponed to share the grief and console the families of the victims following the designation of a national mourning period due to the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.
The 2025 Cheongsong National Ice Climbing Championship is hosted by the Korea Alpine Federation, organized by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Alpine Federation, supported by Cheongsong-gun, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, and sponsored by The North Face.
More than 100 of the country’s top ice climbers will participate, competing for a spot on the national team for the Ice Climbing World Cup by showcasing the skills they have honed over time.

The Cheongsong ICE CLIMBING Festival held the following day is hosted by Cheongsong-gun, organized by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Alpine Federation, and sponsored by The North Face. Anyone can participate in the difficulty and speed competition categories regardless of player registration status.
Notably, participants can climb the ice walls of Cheongsong Eolgumgol, allowing them to fully experience the natural scenic beauty of Cheongsong with their whole body.
Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “Since ice climbing is a special sport that can only be enjoyed in winter, we will thoroughly prepare the competition so that everyone can fully feel the thrill and excitement of ice climbing.”
