Krafton Announces 'Franchise IP' Strategy for the Next 5 Years

Krafton Announces 'Franchise IP' Strategy for the Next 5 Years

Krafton announced its management strategy and mid-to-long-term plans for this year. The company aims to drive growth through intellectual property (IP).

On the 16th, Krafton shared its vision of "Krafton's Next 5 Years, Franchise IP" through the in-house communication program Krafton Live Talk (KLT), hosted by CEO Kim Chang-han. Krafton set securing franchise IP as its mid-to-long-term goal and selected the following core growth strategies to achieve this: ▲expanding investment in in-house production ▲expanding publishing volume ▲improving resource allocation efficiency.

Krafton will significantly increase investment in in-house production to secure original and competitive franchise IP. Focusing on 14 creative studios, the company will concentrate on new project development and talent acquisition to strengthen its new project pipeline. It also plans to specialize its development capabilities. This strategy focuses on creating scalable and highly successful franchise IP.

Publishing aims for both quantitative and qualitative growth of IP by increasing user base and revenue scale. Krafton plans to nurture core franchise IP by releasing multiple new titles to the market and leveraging accumulated capabilities and know-how. To diversify, various methods such as second-party publishing (2PP) and licensing will be applied, and platform expansion across PC, mobile, and console, as well as global publishing capabilities, will be strengthened to enhance market competitiveness.

Additionally, to achieve mid-to-long-term goals and sustainable growth, Krafton will also advance its studio management system. The strategy is to efficiently allocate resources throughout all processes?from creative discovery, production, to commercialization?to increase the success potential of competitive IP.

CEO Kim Chang-han of Krafton stated, "Starting this year, Krafton's new titles will be released in full swing," adding, "We will secure new 'big franchise IPs' following Battlegrounds (PUBG) and multiply corporate value through stepwise growth."

Meanwhile, Krafton plans to consecutively release new titles developed by its headquarters and affiliated studios, including 'Enjoy', 'Dark and Darker Mobile', and 'Subnautica 2', starting from March.
