Doing Our Best to Ensure Residents Can Exercise Their Property Rights
Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that through the 2024 Ancestor Land Search Service, land information for 1,077 parcels (1,484,476㎡) of hidden land belonging to 190 people out of 318 applicants was provided.
The Ancestor Land Search Service is a free administrative service that allows users to electronically inquire about the nationwide land ownership status registered in the cadastral records when they want to verify land owned by their ancestors. The provided information can be used for various purposes such as confirming land location and inheritance registration procedures, and anyone seeking to find their own land can apply.
The Ancestor Land Search Service can be applied for by visiting real estate-related departments nationwide regardless of the land location or online (through Government24, K-Geo platform, etc.).
Applicants themselves need to bring an ID card, representatives must prepare a power of attorney and a copy of the principal’s ID card, and heirs of deceased persons must prepare documents proving their heir status (such as the deceased’s family relation certificate or basic certificate). For online applications, the inquiry is limited to land owned by parents, spouses, or children who died after January 1, 2008, and applicants must attach electronic documents such as the basic certificate and family relation certificate of the deceased.
A county official stated, “There are many cases where ancestors owned land but passed away without property arrangements, leaving descendants unaware. We will do our best to ensure that residents can exercise their property rights without inconvenience through the Ancestor Land Search Service.”
